Seashell Abstractions
This was one of the first art projects I was assigned when I enrolled in my very first art class, Art 13 (3D Design). The objective was to recreate an object using plastilina and then, from there, create 'abstractions' of that piece while keeping the overall shape of the original object in mind.
Of course, I chose a seashell for its intriguing shape and texture, making it the ideal starting point for this project. Although the process was tedious to say the least, I enjoyed brainstorming ideas and later making these abstractions.
Finally, I created another abstraction resembling the original seashell, but this time using plaster. I must admit that the process was quite time-consuming and, quite literally, painful — I ended up with blisters on my hands.
Cured plaster is a challenging material to work with manually. However, once I had the final result in my hands, it felt rewarding.
